For Owners of ex Police Motorcycles
NEWSBEAT September 2009 - Birkenhead Park
September 2009 was only the second year of operation for the Birkenhead Festival of Transport, but what a turnout for this fledgling event. Being a two day event, with free entry, some vehicles only appeared for the one day. There was one ex-police bike there each day, amongst about 30 other bikes, with many supplied by the local AJS & Matchless Club. This included the ex-AFS Matchless. A number of these were later transferred to police duties. There were over 100 classic cars plus commercial vehicles as well, most of which were locally owned. The big crowd puller was the steam vehicles of all types, plus fairground rides, all of which have a sound and smell all of their own. It was great to see the park so full. Check our their web site or go to our links page.

Matchless 350 single, ex-AFS displayed with full history. A number of these were later transferred to police duties.
All the fun of the fair. Just some of the steam powered exhibits on show.
